Meet Shannon Lebak

Licensed Clinical Social Worker | Certified Expert Trauma Professional | EMDR-Trained Therapist

Thought Provoking - Shannon Lebak 02 - 887x887

Shannon is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the President/Founder of Thought Provoking. With more than 20 years of experience across multiple areas of mental health, she brings deep expertise and genuine empathy to her work, creating a welcoming and judgement-free environment for every client.

While Shannon has extensive experience treating Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar, and Anxiety Disorders, her primary focus over the past 10 years has been helping individuals overcome the impact of Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Her therapeutic approach blends evidence-based methods including CBT, Mindfulness, Play Therapy, Anger Management, Family-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy, and EMDR to help children, teens and families.

Shannon is passionate about animal rescue and has a deep love for cats. She works directly with Nose 2 Tail Cat Rescue in McDonald, PA as a foster parent for abandoned and stray cats and kittens. Through the foster process, Shannon felt there could be a mutual benefit to animal rescue and therapy. As a result, she established Thought Provoking and is working to become a Certified Animal Assisted Intervention Specialist. Once her cat is ready for full certification as a therapy animal, 10% of all Animal Assisted Therapy sessions will be donated directly back to Nose 2 Tail Cat Rescue to aid the care of shelter cats – much like her own soon-to-be Therapy Cat once was!

Therapy Cats in Training

Our upcoming Thought Purr-voking program will welcome certified therapy cats to the office — offering clients a little extra comfort, calm, and connection during their sessions.
Karma
Karma
"Karma" is the concept of cause and effect; meaning good deeds lead to positive outcomes and bad deeds to negative ones. It signifies moral responsibility, suggesting individuals shape their destiny through their own intentional behavior, creating a cycle of rebirth until liberation.
Kismet
Kismet
"Kismet" means fate or destiny. In ancient cultures, the concept implies a form of practical fatalism, a resignation and acceptance of the course of events as divinely ordained. In modern, popular culture it refers to positive coincidences or events that seem "meant to be."
